# My first month in ALX Software Engineering Program.

I got enrolled into the 12 months ALX Software Engineering program and began onboarding on the 15th of August.
I had a blast attending the events lined up for us which included a Karibu ceremony, a deep dive into the intranet(where we do our projects) and a Community Hangout which was fun.

On the day of the Karibu Ceremony, we were given the outline of the program. This program requires a commitment of 70 hours per week for a year.

During the week, I went through the projects. I was introduced to shell navigation-this will be used throughout the program. I also got started with text editors - emacs and vi.

I got familiar with git and github. This is a tool every software engineer must learn and it is used to save and store your codes.

I learnt pseudocode and flowchart and how they are used to simplify your codes.

It was a good week overall and I'm ready to learn a lot more.

During the second week, I was introduced to life-based topics like conquering imposter syndrome and grit.

As the month went by, the basics of C was introduced. It turned out to be a hard programming language but I wasn't deterred. I was a beginner and it was a normal reaction. The projects came up and I was able to keep up for a while and it became even harder.

I learnt something during this period. Dreaming of a better life is easier than working for it.

Fingers crossed for the second month or so I thought.
